إِيَّاك نَعْبُدُ وإِيَّاكَ نَسْتَعِينُ
It is You we worship and You we ask for help. [1:5, Quran]
This verse is translated as above, but the word إِيَّاك also has the meaning of 'only' in it which is not mentioned in
translations usually. I am sharing this because I am so in love with this word
and also because I love the beauty of Arabic language. I remember seeing hand
written letters where it ended with ‘Only yours’ with the loved one name on it.
I always get that ecstatic feeling on the word إِيَّاك which one would normally get on seeing the words ‘Only yours’ at
the end of a letter :)
